Note: This is a recording of very low frequencies (<20 - 80Hz), and will not translate well over most speakers and headphones. It is meant for a subwoofer.

Downstairs, two subwoofers emit sound that is almost imperceptible, generated from the Haus itself through a recursive process. The acoustic signature of the silent space is recorded upstairs, played back through the subwoofers downstairs, and recorded again. Over more than 40 successive iterations, the room’s resonant frequencies begin to dominate and the recording becomes an unstable drone: the building’s fundamental tones.

What remains is less sound than physical presence. The vibration may be felt in the chest, in the floor beneath the feet, or subtly along the walls. Because the lower floor is acoustically open to the level above, these sub-frequencies travel through the building, creating sympathetic resonances and pressure zones.

The installation is the exhibition’s acoustic foundation. Visitors are invited to sit or lie on the carpeted floor nearby to experience the piece through vibration.
